Got the iPhone X this morning. Was a bit surprised they had it ready to pick up by 8:30 AM.
Mostly doing fine. Had some issues. The ability to start the setup by using another iOS 11 device seemed great. As soon as I used the camera to look it the X screen, it was a split second to proceed. It said something about giving it time to transfer. It also said it couldn't do the activation or something so I removed the sim card that came with it and put in the one from my old phone, which is when the problems started. It seemed fine except it said I had to call T-Mobile to continue the activation. I did and, to make a long story short, I had to put the new one back in and restart the phone. Got the message to another iOS 11 device, but either something went wrong or I accidentally hit an icon I shouldn't have because I only saw the iPad's camera view show for a moment and then disappear. Couldn't find any way to back out and try again so had to set it up manually to finish the activation process. But that manual process took a number of steps before I could proceed with the activation.
Well, it was annoying, but it's working. Not sure what overall difference it makes. That is, what that automated step brings in vs doing everything manually. I think it just gives you certain settings, not apps or anything. But it seems a lot of my settings are there anyway. Maybe they got put in before I had the problems.
TB works with it! Just tried it enough to be sure for now. No serious testing.
I'm not having much problem adjusting to the different ways of doing things and the "ears" have not bothered me at all so far. Don't even notice them most of the time.
Only thing I've had to adjust to is face ID - which works great! But I'm had trouble with some of the timing. I knew it was said that you could do the finger sweep before it actually ID'd you and it would still go to the home screen when the ID registered. But I found that you have to have the screen on first, then swipe and then when the ID registers, you are on the home screen. Just a misunderstanding of what others had written.
Absolutely zero problems with it recognizing me. I read some people saying they had some minor issues in that they had to really look at screen if "attention aware" was on. My experience was so good that I had to look at the settings to make sure "attention aware" was activated!
Still a lot of settings to work through, to see how I want things to work. Right now I think I'll set everything up fresh rather than restoring from a backup. Then I'll save a locked backup of it so if I ever do restore from my old phone's stuff and there is a problem, I can go back to this new setup.
