It has been a long while since posting.
Had a couple recent issues and wanted to send a new post with the great response from WayTools upon submitting the two issues.
Over the many many months my TB has continued to function as expected. I continue to use it as my primary input device for all my various devices including in order of level of use: Work desktop (Windows 10) with WayTools provided dongle, iPad Pro (latest version), iPhone XS Max, Work Laptop (Windows 10), Wife’s Mac Book Pro... I have 3 other devices I could use it for but as I keep my dongle with my work desktop I tend to not use it for those devices.
I have put significant mileage on this current hardware version of the TB which I received a long while ago.
Now onto my recent couple issues:
Over the past month plus I have periodically run into situations where the edit and or copy layer decides not to trigger (no lighting up on the SpaceBlade). I only notice it as I am moving along typing and all of a sudden when I am deciding to move the cursor and instead of the cursor moving it continues to display the key strokes. It catches me off guard so I look down at the keyboard after trying again and notice the lights are not lighting up. In those rare moments I have tried to switch bluetooth slots and back again and only one time that has worked. I end up disconnecting and reconnecting the space blade.
Just recently at work I started to more heavily use my laptop and remote desktopping to my work desktop. For some reason in that mode when trying to use the edit, select, copy, or shift keys, the key combinations will not stay engaged. What I mean is that I will hold the shift key down and type several letters and some of them will be lower case. In the case of copy and paste sometimes instead of copying the selected data it will replace the data with c or while pasting (when copy function works) it will enter a v instead of pasting the data. Or when trying to select a group of cells in Excel it will randomly stop selecting the cells and begin again in a new place.
Yesterday, I posted these two items to the TextBlade app to let WayTools know and within a very short while I received a response of WayTools interest in both of these situations and wanted to know if we could have a call last night.
Upon calling them, instead of reaching tech support (which has happened a couple times) it was Mark. We had a great conversation about how things are going at WayTools. He helped me diagnose more of the issues trying to narrow down the issues.
Issue 2 has been narrowed down as it works perfectly on iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, Work Laptop, Work Desktop, iPad remoted to windows desktop through Jump Desktop. It seems the only time the issue surfaces is using my windows laptop remoted to work desktop.
For issue #1 he was able to do an OTA update to my TB to allow me to try another option to reset a portion of the TB without disconnecting and resetting the entire time. We also made sure I was set up with flight recorder to send WayTools some key strokes the next time issue #1 occurs.
We then spent another 90 minutes discussing various things WayTools has been working on as of late, the code branch, TREG methodologies, other things that might prove interesting if successful and deployed on the hardware front as well as various things happening in the news.
We even got into how we are seeing other companies including Tesla driving towards innovation. How real world feedback is helping Tesla as well as WayTools from TREG users. It was a great conversation.
Mark and I have had several calls now over the past few years, each of which I have truly enjoyed. I see the vision and still strongly believe WayTools is on the right path and I have confidence in WayTools delivering the TB to the market. Yes, it has been an extremely long wait and one that I am not necessarily happy with either as a paying customer. Also, from all the looks at work from people still interested in purchasing a TB but wonder if it will ever be sold.
I made a point to thank Mark for his involvement. I have not interacted with any other company in which the President will spend two hours on the phone discussing a TREG user concerns and going over other R&D ideas and progress. He is a visionary and I am excited for the TB and the other products discussed coming to market.
Looking forward to the future and continuing to wait patiently. They are vary interested in the TREG experience. My issues if experienced by many others would definitely impact production release. Hoping we can track it down and resolve it as for me it is making the TB not useable for me in excel while remoted to my desktop unless I use my SwitftPoint mouse to perform all the selections as well as copy and pasting. This has dramatically impacted my workflow and efficiency. It is amazing in much efficiency gain there is using the TB in Excel. I hadn’t realized how efficient I was until I had to go back to using a mouse.
Will let you all know what I find out about the issues....and their resolutions
