That's been brought up before and certainly I can see some special use cases for it. But I see no way it would leapfrog the TB.
For one thing, while any new keyboard requires some adjusting to get used to - even if the only change is how the keys are angled - the Tap thing is massively more difficult to adjust to in order to be able to type anything. I mean, even if I can't touch type on a TB and have no idea how they adjusted the keys to fit everything in so fewer spots, I can still look at the keys and hit most of what I need. And almost all the rest only require that I know how to access the green layer. Which leaves just a tiny number that require the shift/green layer.
That pretty much covers just about everything you need to type just fine right from the start. Add in how you get the control, alt, and command keys and there isn't much you can't do.
Then you have the difference even when you are used to both keyboards. I can't recall all I read about your linked device, but as I recall, it simply doesn't allow for the speed you can get with a TB.
And what about feel? TB feels great. But with a Tap device you may be hitting your fingers on a hard surface - and that simply isn't going to feel good, especially for long sessions. Of course, it also offers the advantage of being able to just tap on your leg to type. Certainly pretty cool, but there are issues. I suspect that is still bad for long sessions. And you still have to put a lot of work into learning it. And still be slower. Plus, from what I read before, typing on your leg or other soft surface was not very dependable.
This is the thing I noticed right away with the TB and what I found most amazing - that you could have a keyboard made tinier than any other for mobility, yet not have the traditional compromises (crampness, lack of stability, etc) and still gain huge advantages in customization, ease of editing, use with many devices, and darn cheap.
Of course, they still need to GR. And they need to give us both the more info they said last week (Monday) that would be coming this week as well as the big update which is over 13 months late!
