Well it has been a while since I have been out here and even longer since I made my order on 14 March 2014. Exactly 4 years 7 months and 20 days ago. Holy jumping keyboards Batman, that was a Tech century ago!!! Amazon's market cap was $168B at that time... now it has just dipped below $900B.
This means I am headed to my 5th anniversary!!! Let's put this in perspective. My son was 3 when I ordered he turns 8 in March. He wasn't in school and starts 3rd grade in January ( I live in Australia), I have moved twice, sold a house, bought a house, left a job, changed careers, watched all the new Star Wars Movies, and seen the unbelievable... Trump actually win the Presidency with all his baggage, but still no TextBlade.
What has changed at WayTools since then. Well, nothing really. They are saying the same thing in a different way. Back in the day... 2014... they told us they were ready to ship and then we started to get monthly delays. Now we get quarterly delays... should have gone with annual delays... They also told us the early adopters get a gift for being in early. I bet I get a T-Shirt... with each year they didn't ship on the back... like a bands world tour t-shirt. Awesome!!
I did take a few minutes to read a few posts... and I particularly like the one where the guy put it in simple terms. I want a keyboard that connects to my devices and types. The one they promised almost 5 years ago. It also appears we are onto Version 5 of the keyboard according the TREG testers. Version 5 and we still are tinkering and telling everyone how doing this is not trivial!!! Where is mine? Oh, yes... I am not a 'Keyboard Enthusiast' so I don't get what I ordered until it is perfect. Seriously, "keyboard enthusiasts"... is that even a thing? Is there a club for it?
WayTools - Please quit telling us how hard it is and how you have to iron out just a few more things. That story has been going on for 5 years... there were others before me. If it works reliably ship it. oh wait I think I said that in 2015 or was it 2016...? Stop tinkering and start shipping. Spend our money on how to support the users not the next feature. SGI used to tinker... does anyone remember SGI??? Probably not.... We have CGI because of SGI. They were enthusiasts to the point they missed selling to the world because they focused on the enthusiasts. Where are they now? Pretty much DEAD!!! Well the brand still exists... but the company is effectively DEAD! The market is a keyboard in everyone's hand not the enthusiasts.
To the enthusiasts - How do I join the club? I think I will have my TextBlade sometime just after the 2020 election and my tour T-Shirt.
Here are the words I had in 2014 - Lock it Down and Ship it! Also said that in 2015, 2016, 2017, and now 2018 and probably will say it in 2019 and 2020.
