From the start, WT requested that if we found a problem, we give them a week to see if they could quickly fix it before we talked about it publicly. Though just a request, it is certainly a fair one. In the vast majority of cases, issues that I've reported have been solved quickly. The hard part, as WT has pointed out, is actually catching logs of the problem or getting something that happens intermittently to be repeatable with WT's own testing.
Well, we ran into a problem last week. After making a firmware update which would improve jumps/bluetooth edge cases, a number of us ran into a significant problem. Not all of us got the update so the number with issues was a significant fraction of those who did.
The specifics varied a little so I'll just give my own example. I do most of my typing on my iMac. But I needed to sent a post to WT through the app, so I had to switch to my iPhone X. Unfortunately, when I switched back to my iMac, nothing would type. Jumping to anything else also failed to work. To get it to work, I'd have to restart the TextBlade. Since I rarely jump normally, it didn't affect my normal usage much, but it certainly must be fixed.
I could repeat it pretty easily. Occasionally I could jump to the iphone X and back to the iMac, and it would still work, but I could never do it twice. The next day I ran into the same problem, using my iPad Pro.
Unfortunately, this was during the holiday so people weren't working at WT - except, apparently, Mark. He gave some things to try, but they didn't work for me.
So, Monday comes and WT engineers are back at work. Around dinner time, I get a pre-release of new firmware and it seems to be working. Today they sent it out to all testers (though many haven't actually applied it yet). As near as I can tell, everyone who reported this connection problem with the prior version has things working now as they used to.
Another benefit I stumbled across and WT confirmed was part of the changes they've been making, is that connections are significantly faster when making a jump. It' always been pretty quick, but I'd say it is around twice as fast now.
Of course, the big question is whether or not the recent updates have helped with the problems that have been reported for a long time. I don't have info on that yet. Most of those people have not posted anything one way or the other yet - only a couple of them have reported upgrading so far since it just came out to everyone.
