Function keys and jumps

Two things I have wondered about since seeing the keyboards displayed in the TextBlade app - yes, I've been sitting on the questions for ages:

(1) Why are 6 2-finger combinations which could be used for shift states "wasted" on jumps? I would have expected a single two-finger combination with one hand and one key on the other to choose the jump state. Is this configurable, like most thing seem to be? (Yes, I expect to be wanting a lot of custom shift states!)

(2) I no longer recall the details, according to the diagram certain function keys seemed to require pressing in multiple places with the same finger (there was a two-finger combination in the right hand to choose function keys, but sometimes one had to press in the top row on one of those two keys also, or so it seemed from the diagram). How does this work?

On item 2, I assume you are referring to the issue where the key for the function you want is on the same keycap as one of the key caps used for the function layer chord.

Well, it it sticky so you can press the chord then release and then hit the key.

1) You cannot add arbitrary New layers - you can only customise the existing ones. As such the chords used for jumps have no other use.

2) there is a 2 finger chord on the right blade that activates the function layer. The top level of keys then become function keys, and the middle and bottom rows are currently free and thus available for whatever you want. Te Function Layer chord is ‘sticky’ like the shift key so you can release it and then press the key on the function layer you want.

This is sadly true now. However, it's certainly possible that this could change with the new infrastructure. To be clear, I have no inside information on this, other than to hear that lots of new flexibility will be enabled when the new code comes online.

I was told that the TB is capable of 12 slots out of the box but 6 have been not enabled for access by end users. All I can think is that the other 6 are accessed through the green layer. Anyway. If needed, I anticipate they would be enabled at some point.

If you stick to the idea of two finger chords on a given blade and restricted to the top row then there are an additional 3 options on each blade if you use non-contiguous keys. not very intuitive though so maybe some other idea would be better?
