I'm working, (struggling) to do a battery test using mostly iOS devices rather than my iMac. This is because the flight recorder doesn't make much, if any, difference in battery drain with being connected with something that has the app. That means just iOS for now.
I'm still not sure what has to be in play for the greater drain to work. Apparently you have to activate the keyboard extension, However, I do NOT know if you actually have to have the TB keyboard showing.
So, I've tried to keep it on as much as I can. But that still leaves the question of what happens if it is showing, but you aren't typing anything. Is there still a greater drain, but just not as much difference as there would be when typing?
Anyway, I'm working on it as best I can. Trying to type a fair amount but, frankly, I'm getting tired of all this extra typing! I don't feel I've done as much as in most of my iMac tests, but can't really quantify the difference. And I also have an issue where at some point I forget to put down the time I started or some other issue and I make my best estimate. In any case, here are my results so far:
The first 10% drop only took 11 minutes!!! I'm pretty sure it simply wasn't fully charged. I charged it till it got all 10 LEDs lit and then added 15 more minutes. But with such a fast drop, I figure it still wasn't topped off. Or this is still an area WT needs to work on (but NOT as a gating issues!).
I did have another 10% drop later on after just 57 minutes, but overall, to drop 50%, it took 483 minutes. That means an average of 96.5 minutes per 10 percent.
If that continues, it would be 16 he and 6 minutes total. When using an iMac almost all the time, thus not as heavy a drain, it has lasted over 1300 minutes (around 22 hours).
