I'm not promising a lot on this because it is kind of a pain to keep up with real details on usage. I have to note the time I turn on the keyboard, remember to check the time I turn it off and, particularly bothersome, try to figure out when it may turn off automatically if it is idle long enough (you can set this to either 30 minutes or one hour - I presently have mine set to an hour since I don't mind charging it as often as necessary.
I spend a lot of time at my computer, but typing time is erratic. I may be doing a lot of posts various places or documents or typing tests. But then I may just have it sitting there while I'm doing a lot of screen reading or other activity I can just do with the mouse.
I'm not even going to try to keep up with how much actual typing I'm doing and words like, "a lot", "normal amount", etc, really mean very little since everyone will differ on what those words mean, even if they do try to pay attention.
So, my first report:
Fully charged late last night. Was on for 55 minutes. Off for about 6.5 hours (no idea how much battery is used for that) and, so far, on again for the past 25 minutes. Still shows 100% (all 10 lights). 80 minutes on total.
Update: Turned it off at 158 minutes and saying 100% still. Then I turned it back on later, it said 90%. I'm presently still at 90% for a total time of 264 minutes
Update: Now up to 550 minutes - still shows 80% but should drop any time now.
Turned it back on after several hours and it was at 70%. So if it it is consistent (which I doubt) that is running at about 3 hours for each 10% so maybe it will end up around 30 hours - which would be a lot more than my last test doing this. But no good way to compare actual time typing as opposed to just being on. My suspicion is that this time there is less because while I still do typing tests, I don't do them as often.
Update: I'm up to 790 minutes though I haven't typed much during the past few hours while it was on. I should point out that during this whole test I have updated the firmware twice, including just minutes ago. I would think this would be more power demanding, but each update takes less than 15 minutes.
I'm also at 50% though I don't know when that first happened.
Update: I ran into a problem so I needed to turn the flight recorder back on - which sucks up much more power so my future data isn't going to be as useful.
I've been recording for the past 10 minute after getting to 825 minutes still showing 50%. It is not at 40%.
Update: A bit surprised, considering Flight Recorder is still on. Been 1005 minutes so far and still at 40%. That surely till drop at any moment, but I may be done for the night.
Update: Just a bit longer before quitting. Reached 30% around 1023 minutes or a bit before.
Update: Was down to 20% by 1090 minutes. Don't know how much of this more rapid drop is due to flight recorder being on or just lack of consistency in the TB reading battery power. Total minutes so far is 1034.
Last update. Battery ran out at 1358 minutes with about the last half having Flight Recorder on.
Again, can't say exactly how much time was spent actually typing. For the last 10% I probably was much more active so I was surprised that that lasted so long.
790 minutes to hit 50%. Another 568 minutes with flight recorder on for the last 50%. Last 10% lasted 200 minutes so, clearly not consistent since that last 10 was probably my most active as I tried to run it down.
Anyway, this translates to about 22 hours and 38 minutes total.
I really doubt I'll start another test in an effort to get the time with Flight Recorder left off the whole time. Just too much of a hassle trying to keep track.
I also tried to recharge for just 30 seconds but the TB wouldn't work. Did another 30 seconds but still wouldn't work. Then did another 60 seconds but still nothing. Finally I just let it charge for another 10 minutes (12 total) and it did work - showed four lights.
