Short description: looks like a 10" tablet, but is a linked display and touch screen for your phone. Effectively zero latency, 100' range. $99. They plan (hope, aim) to ship in December. Here's the link .
With one of those and the TextBlade, leave your phone in your pocket and you have a laptop replacement!
I think back sometimes to the Palm company. When they still had the Treo (pre-Pre) the company was hard at work to bring to market a keyboard & screen clamshell with only enough brains to communicate with the phone. Normally you'd carry the phone, but when you wanted to do some work at the coffee shop, you'd grab this "Folio" (I think that might even be what they called it). But the then President of the company flinched. The price point was high -- like $499. And a lot of commentators were saying it was a dumb idea, nobody'd want one, etc. He flinched and scrubbed it; he pulled the plug. Then he went out to create WebOS and the Pre. But the Pre was too far behind to be the iPhone killer that the Palm community wanted it to be. And Palm died. I often wonder what would life be like if he hadn't flinched, if he hadn't listened to the commentators, if he'd trusted his vision of a way to make mobile more functional.
And now we have come nearly full circle. But now we have a (far better) keyboard and (maybe) a similar "airheaded" tablet running off a powerful phone, at a way better price point.
